I welcome you to ‘Indira Gandhi National Open University’, the world’s largest University disseminating Open and Distance learning. The Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 1985 is committed itself to serve the needs of variety of learners.

 
IGNOU Regional Centre-Aligarh was established as Sub Regional Centre in Feb. 2006 and upgraded as Regional Centre on 18th January 2008. The Districts of Western Uttar Pradesh was covered by this Regional Centre include Aligarh, Agra, Budaun, Etah, Etawah, Firozabad, J.P. Nagar, Kashiram Nagar (Kasganj), Mahamaya nagar (Hathras), Mainpuri, Mathura, Moradabad, Sambhal and Rampur with its network of 31 Learner Support Centres, there was 15 Regular Study Centres, 5 Programme Study Centres and 11 Special Study Centres.
 
Recently, 6 districts namely Amroha, Moradabad, Sambhal, Rampur, Agra and Mathura has been shifted to RC Noida vide RSD Notification No. IG/RSD/39th/SSC/2017/1098 dated 04/05/2017. At present, there are 09 Regular Study Centres, 01 Programme Study Centres and 04 Special Study Centres covering 8 districts namely Aligarh, Budaun, Etah, Etawah, Firozabad, Kashiram Nagar (Kasganj), Mahamaya nagar (Hathras) &  Mainpuri.
 
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), since its inception, has continuously striven to build an inclusive knowledge society through inclusive education. It has tried to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) by offering high-quality teaching through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. IGNOU has been in the forefront of taking education to the doorsteps of the learners over the years particularly to the remotely located disadvantaged sections of society.
 
Free of cost education is being provided to all jail inmates across the country. A large number of SC/ST students have been admitted without any admission fee to various programmes of the University. The weavers community is also being admitted in BPP and CLP free of cost.
 
The University recognizes the importance of sustainable & affordable high quality learning modules, courses and programmes across disciplines and at diverse levels to meet the national mission-education for all.
