History
IGNOU Regional Centre-Aligarh was established as Sub Regional Centre in Feb. 2006 and upgraded as Regional Centre on 18th January 2008. The Districts of Western Uttar Pradesh covered by this Regional Centre include Aligarh, Budaun, Etah, Etawah, Firozabad, Kasganj, Hathras and Mainpuri with its network of 21 Learner Support Centres. The total geographical area of the region is 23556 Sq km. which is 09 percent of the total area of the Uttar Pradesh and the population of the region as per 2011 census was reported 4272636 persons. Out of the total population of the region nearly 78 percent reside in the rural areas which is relatively higher than the National as well as State average. The region has predominance of other backward classes which constitute 54 percent of the total population of the region.
The Regional Centre-Aligarh is well-connected from all parts of the region through all means of transport as it is at a distance of 2Km from Railway Station and 3 KM from Bus Stand.
