Post Graduate Diploma in Animal Welfare (PGDAW)

 Greetings from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) (A NAAC A++ Accredited University).

 

We are pleased to inform you that IGNOU has launched a ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Animal Welfare (PGDAW)’ in Open and Distance Learning mode in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh. The programme is endorsed by Animal Welfare Board of India

 

Objectives:

·         To impart science based animal welfare education through open and distance learning.

·         To build capacities of stakeholders in taking socially responsible decisions concerning animal welfare.

 

Programme Structure:

·         Level of Programme: PG Diploma in Animal Welfare (PGDAW)

·         Number of credits: 32

·         Learning material: 04 courses of 08 credits each (85 Modules)

·         Admission criterion: Graduation in any discipline

·         Duration: 1 Year (Admission valid for 3 years)

·         Fee: Rs. 5400/- + Rs. 300 registration fee

 

The PGDAW programme covers welfare science, ethics, laws and standards of all managed animals like cattle and buffaloes; sheep and goat; pigs; poultry; working, performing, pet, zoo and lab animals in 85 modules. The study material has been developed in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh. 

 

We are offering this programme through our Regional centres across India. Anyone who is interested can pursue this programme in Open and Distance Learning without any interruption to their regular work.

·         Members of State Animal Welfare Boards / SPCAs.

·         Civil Servants, Officials and Researchers Working in Forest Departments, Zoos and Wildlife Institutes

·         Faculty and Research Scholars under Zoological Survey of India and Zoology Departments.

·         Law Professionals dealing with Animal Welfare Laws.

·         Employees & Volunteers Working in Animal Welfare Organizations / NGOs / Gaushalas.

·         Animal Lovers, Pet Owners & Graduates Seeking Career as Animal Welfare Professionals.
